Anthony Joseph Dimond was born in New York on November 30. 1881. He spent his life trying to improve the young territory of Alaska as Mayor of Valdez and as a memeber of the Territorial Legislature. He then spent 12 years as Alaska’s delegate to Congress, where he fought for Alaska statehood. Dimond ended forty years of public service as a federal judge in Alaska. He died of a heart attack in may of 1953. Today would have been his 132 birthday. Student Government invites all staff and students to join us at lunch in the commands for a birthday celebration complete with cake and a excited birthday themed quick hitter. Happy Dimond day!
